Ponta da Caveira is located at the East coast of Flores Island 1.5 miles from Santa Cruz harbor. Although this dive is done near the coast, sometimes strong currents can be present off Ponta da Caveira (Skull Tip). This dive site presents several caves and crevices in the wall and the bottom will be at 17m to 25 m deep. Along the wall the divers are surrounded by schools of trigger fish. The main fauna is composed of damselfish, breams, parrot fish, groupers, rainbow wrasses, ornate wrasses. In the crevices conger eels, black morays, and fork-beards can be observed. When reaching Ponta da Caveira the divers should level at around 10m and follow the drift to observe schools of blue fish, white travellys, and Atlantic bonito, around schools of mackerel.
